Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Georgetown Downs Marquette 4-0

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated the Marquette Golden Eagles 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, GU improves to 10-2-4 and 6-1-1 in BIG EAST action while Marquette slides to 4-10-3 and 1-5-1 in conference play.

Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Today was a good day for us, these games are always tricky as Marquette had points to play for in hopes of making the conference tournament. I give them credit; they battled right to the end and that is a good sign for Chris Allen and his squad moving forward.

Overall, I was really happy with our play, and it helps when Maja Lardner steps in and scores two great goals in the first half as she is really coming into her own right now. The rest of the team did really well, and we limited the number of chances they had. We played a different system today and I thought in the first half we were coming to grips with that, and we got a little bit better in the second half when the game opened up and we dominated possession and space. Our back line and goalkeepers kept another shutout marking our 11th of the season which is a great sign for us as we near postseason play.

Today also provided the opportunity to get more kids on the field as that has been hard the past few games for us. We have two tough games left heading up to Villanova on Thursday. Hopefully we can take care of business up there although it won't be easy, before coming home to face Xavier with a regular season crown possibly on the line."
