WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's 12th-ranked squash team fell 6-3 in the 2024-25 season opener at No. 13 Tufts in Medford, Massachusetts on Friday. The match, chosen as the College Squash Association Match of the Week, did not disappoint as five matches were decided in five games while another pair went four.
Rachel Mashek and
Ana Margarita Quijano both won in their Hoya debuts while
Ella Schoonmaker picked up the other victory for the Blue & Gray.
In the second spot, Mashek won 11-13, 13-11, 11-13, 11-5 while Margarita Quijano won 11-7, 11-13, 12-10, 14-12 in the third flight.
Schoonmaker defeated her opponent in five games, winning 7-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-9, 14-12 in the fifth position.
Sanah Syed fell in five games in the top slot while
Cici Curran,
Katie Hennessy and
Eena Yu each fell just short in five games in the fourth, eighth and ninth spots, respectively.
