Women’s Basketball Hosts Temple on Tuesday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return home to host the Temple University Owls on Tuesday evening in McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is 1-1 on the season after an 88-31 season opening victory over Virginia University-Lynchburg, but a 79-61 defeat at Wisconsin that weekend.
  • The Hoyas have been off since November 10 and will now have four games over the next nine days.
  • In the Wisconsin game, graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas in all categories with 27 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.
  • Against VUL, junior Victoria Rivera was one of five Hoyas in double figures with a career-best 19 points including a 5-of-9 performance from beyond the arc.
  • Ransom added 16 points and eight boards, while GU boasted a pair of double-doubles as freshman Khadee Hession had 11 points, 10 rebounds and a squad-high nine steals, and classmate Alexia Araujo-Dagba had 10 points and as many boards in the game.
  • Ransom earned BIG EAST Conference Preseason honors at the league's annual women's basketball media day held at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Hoyas were also picked to finish fifth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 66 points.
About the Owls
  • Temple is 2-1 on the season with victories over Delaware (67-56) and VCU (59-55), but falling to Richmond in the season opener by a score of 79-72.
  • TU has two players averaging in double figures as Tiarra East is averaging 20.0 ppg, and Tarriyonna Gary has managed 13.0 ppg.
  • Anissa Rivera has 10.0 rpg to lead the Owls on the glass.
  • Diane Richardson is in her third season at Temple. Last year, she led the Owls to a share of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season crown.
  • East was named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Second Team when preseason honors were announced, additionally, the Owls were chosen to finish eighth out of 13 teams
