Georgetown Men’s Basketball Welcomes Mount St. Mary’s for Wednesday Night Clash

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team is set to host Mount St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday evening at Capital One Arena as part of the Hoya MTE. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on FS1. The Blue & Gray enter Wednesday's contest with a 2-1 record after falling short to Notre Dame on Saturday at Capital One Arena.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown dropped its most recent matchup last Saturday falling to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 84-63, at Capital One Arena to slide to 2-1 on the season.
  • Malik Mack led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 16 points on five made field goals, including a quartet of 3-pointers. Jayden Epps chipped in 13 points while Thomas Sorber added 12. Mack and Caleb Williams were the leaders on the glass grabbing six and five rebounds, respectively. Mack's five assists paced the offense while Epps recorded three steals.The Hoyas shot 31.4% (22-70) for the game and got outrebounded 42-33 on the glass, despite grabbing 18 offensive boards.
  • Sorber's 19.0 ppg ranks fourth in the BIG EAST and leads a quartet of Hoyas in double figures followed by Epps (14.0), Mack (12.7) and Micah Peavy (12.0).
  • Sorber currently ranks second in the league on the glass with 8.7 rpg followed by Jordan Burks with 5.3 rpg.
  • Mack's 4.7 apg paces the offense and ranks eighth in the BE while Epps and Peavy dish out 3.0 and 2.3 apg respectively.
  • Peavy's 3.3 spg is the best in the BIG EAST Conference while Sorber's 1.3 bpg ranks sixth in the league.
  • The Hoyas are led by Ed Cooley who enters his 19th season as a collegiate head coach and his second with Georgetown. In 2022, Cooley was the recipient of the Naismith Coach of the Year Award, named the Sporting News Coach of the Year, the BIG EAST Coach of the Year, the NABC District 5 Coach of the Year and the USBWA District 1 Coach of the Year.
 
ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • Mount St. Mary's enters Wednesday's contest with a 3-1 record, after defeating Saint Francis University on Saturday 66-58. Terrell Ard Jr. and Dallas Hobbs both recorded 12 points each followed by three more Mountaineers in double figures in Xavier Lipscomb (10), Dola Adebayo (10) and Javon Ervin (10). Adebayo was the leader on the glass, pulling down 13 boards to give him the double-double on the night. The Mountaineers shot 41.1% (23-56) from the field.
  • Mount Saint Mary's is led by the quartet of Hobbs (17.3 ppg), Jedy Cordilia (12.7 ppg), Adebayo (10.8 ppg) and Ard Jr. (10.8 ppg).
  • On the glass, Ard Jr.'s 8.5 rpg leads the Mount, closely followed by Cordilia's 6.0 rpg.
  • Head Coach Donny Lind enters his first season at the helm of Mount St. Mary's. Lind previously served as the assistant coach at UNC Greensboro from 2021-24 and before that as the assistant at Radford from 2016-21. This marks Lind's fourth season with the Mountaineers as he was an assistant coach from 2013-2016 and helped coach the team to the 2024 Northeast Conference Championship.

  • The Blue & Gray holds a 25-5 all-time record against Mount St. Mary's dating back to 1926. The last time the two squads met was on November 18, 2023, when Georgetown won 83-72. Jayden Epps was one of four Hoyas in double figures as he dropped 4-for-8 from the field and tallied five rebounds and one block.
  • Cooley holds a 1-0 record against the Mountaineers and a 80-33 record against MAAC opponents.
