Hoyas Boast Record 98 Percent Graduation Success Rate

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University was tied for sixth in the nation in the NCAA's Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report on Division I student-athletes, released by the organization on Wednesday. Georgetown graduated 98 percent which is above the national average of 91 percent and ties the highest in program history.
 
NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR)
  • The GSR is based on student-athletes who entered college as freshmen in 2017 and allows for the removal of those individuals from who left Georgetown in good academic standing.
  • Graduating 98 percent, the Hoyas are tied for first in the BIG EAST Conference with Seton Hall and Villanova. Additionally, Georgetown tied for sixth in the nation.
  • A total of 14 Hoya teams achieved a 100 percent GSR including baseball, men's lacrosse, men's soccer, men's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's cross country/track & field, field hockey, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball, women's tennis and volleyball.
  • The 98 percent GSR is Georgetown's highest finish since reporting began in 1998 and ties last year's overall score.
NCAA Federal Graduation Rate (FGR)
  • Georgetown freshmen scholarship athletes that enrolled in 2017 posted a four-year class average of 87 percent.
  • This tied for 10th in the nation, and leads the BIG EAST.
  • The FGR does not allow for the removal of those individuals who left GU in good academic standing, and only includes scholarship student-athletes.
