Three Georgetown Programs Earn BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Awards

WASHINGTON – The BIG EAST Conference announced its 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Awards on Tuesday morning, recognizing the top-performing academic teams across each of the league's 22 sponsored sports. Georgetown had three programs earn the conference's premier team academic honor: field hockey, men's swimming & diving, and men's tennis.

The Team Academic Excellence Awards are presented annually to the program in each BIG EAST-sponsored sport that registers the highest cumulative grade-point average. Team GPAs are calculated using every student-athlete listed on an institution's official roster at the conclusion of the championship segment.

Georgetown Honorees

  • Men's Tennis: 3.758 GPA (Highest in BIG EAST)
  • Field Hockey: 3.752 GPA (Highest in BIG EAST)
  • Men's Swimming & Diving: 3.657 GPA (Highest in BIG EAST)
Georgetown's three awards tied for the third-highest total in the conference, behind St. John's (5) and Butler (4). Across the league, 10 member institutions had at least one team recognized for classroom excellence during the 2025-26 academic year.
