WASHINGTON - Three members of the Georgetown University men's soccer team were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District, as announced by the organization this week. Senior captain Blaine Mabie and sophomores Eric Howard and Matthew Helfrich each earned the accolade.
 
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and must compete in 90 percent of the institution's contests played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games. Teams are limited to six nominees.

• Mabie has started all 19 games he has appeared in this season.
• He managed a goal and an assist on the year for three points.
• The team captain also earned the honor last year making him a two-time recipient.

• Helfrich has appeared in 19 games for the Hoyas with 16 starts to his credit.
• He is part of a backline that has recorded 11 shutouts this season to lead the nation.
• Helfrich is a business major.

Redmond, Wash. / Eastside Catholic

• Howard has started all 20 games for the Blue & Gray this season.
• He has a goal and three assists for five points on the season, the goal was the game winner in the BIG EAST Championship Game.
• For his efforts, Howard was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and the BIG EAST Championship's Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
• He is part of a backline that has recorded 11 shutouts this season to lead the nation.
• Howard is a business major.
