Hoyas to Face Boston University on Wednesday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will continue its six-game road swing with a matchup at Boston University on Wednesday leading into the Thanksgiving holiday. The contest is scheduled to tip at noon at Case Gym.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (2-3) is coming off of a tough three-game week where the Hoyas defeated Temple on Tuesday (65-51), but lost a pair of games to Cincinnati and Florida Gulf Coast at the Atlantic Slam W in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
  • The Hoyas struggled with five players out due to injury.
  • For her efforts over three games, Kelsey Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. Ransom averaged 23.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in a three-game week for Georgetown.
  • She scored 28 points and had five assists and five steals in the 65-51 win over Temple on Tuesday. Ransom then recorded her first double-double of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds against Cincinnati in the first game of the Atlantic Slam W. The graduate student rounded out the week with 12 points, five rebounds and four steals against FGCU in the second game of the Atlantic Slam W on Saturday.
  • For her efforts, she was named to the Atlantic Slam W All-Tournament Team.
  • Ransom is second in the league in scoring (21.6 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (7.4 rpg) as well as sixth in assists (3.8 apg) and seventh in steals (2.2 spg).
  • Junior Victoria River is second on the team in scoring averaging 14.0 ppg. She is currently leading the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 16, and is second in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 47.1 percent.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins rounds out the top three with a pair of double-doubles on the season and 11.8 ppg. Jenkins is second in the league on the glass with 9.0 rpg and leads the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 2.4 per game.
  • Wednesday is the third of a six-game road swing for the Blue & Gray. GU will not return to McDonough Arena until December 9 despite playing two upcoming games in The District.
About the Terriers
  • BU is 2-2 on the season with victories over Northeastern (60-48) and Maine (67-57), and losses to New Hampshire as well as BIG EAST-foe UConn.
  • Allison Schwertner was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday after leading BU's offense in the Maine victory. The freshman dropped a career-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. She also made six free throws, while adding eight rebounds and two steals.
  • Alex Giannaros is leading the team in scoring averaging 16.0 ppg, she is followed by Schwertner who has 9.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg on the year.
  • Giannaros was a Preseason All-Patriot League selection. The Terriers were selected to finish fifth in the league with two first-place votes.
