Georgetown Hosts Creighton in BIG EAST Quarterfinal on Saturday

WASHINGTON - The fourth-seeded Georgetown University men's soccer team will begin its BIG EAST Championship with a quarterfinal home match against fifth-seeded Creighton on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. at Shaw Field. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Georgetown men's soccer alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser back in the broadcast booth for their 20th season.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (8-4-5) is coming off of a 2-0 loss at St. John's last Saturday to close out the regular season.
  • After a quiet first half, the Red Storm had two quick goals to run away with the game.
  • The result gave the Hoyas the fourth overall seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
  • Sophomore Matthew Van Horn is leading the Hoya offense with six goals and two assists for 14 points on the season.
  • Freshman Mitchell Baker and Zach Zengue follow just behind with 11 points apiece. Baker has four goals and three assists, while Zengue has managed three goals and five assists on the year.
  • Junior Tenzing Manske has seen a majority of the minutes in the net for the Hoyas. He holds a 0.62 goals-against average and a 0.784 save percentage to go along with 29 saves, a 7-4-2 record and eight shutouts for the year.

About the Blue Jays
  • Creighton (9-5-3) is coming off of a pair of victories including a 6-1 win against Butler on 10/26, and a 5-2 victory at Marquette to close out the regular season on 11/2.
  • Leading the Blue Jays is Jackson Castro who finished the regular season with nine goals and seven assists. 
  • In the Butler win, he had six points in the contest.
  • Supporting Castro on offense is Miguel Arilla and Ali Ramadan.  Arilla has recorded four goals and posted seven assists, while Ramadan has chipped in five goals and dished out one helper.
  • Between the posts, Blake Gillingham has started all 17 matches this season with 44 saves, while earning eight victories including four shutouts.
  • Creighton continues a stretch of 12-consecutive appearances in the conference tournament which is the longest in the league. Georgetown is second with eight.
