ON THE RECORD

It was, I love the BIG EAST dog. I absolutely love the BIG EAST and that's what it felt like in here." - Head Coach

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Georgetown got on the board first with a Peavy layup. The game went back and forth as both squads exchanged buckets in the opening minutes until a seven-point Syracuse swing gave the Orange a 9-4 advantage. The Hoyas returned the favor with eight unanswered of their own, capped by a Sorber tip-in to give GU the 12-9 lead.
- The two squads traded the lead but the home team capitalized on multiple trips to the charity stripe, taking a 31-29 lead following four-straight free throws. The Hoyas fought back and an Epps layup knotted the game at 33 as the junior drew the foul. Out of the huddle, Epps completed the traditional three-point play to give the lead back to Georgetown.
- Despite taking a 37-35 lead on an Epps trey, Syracuse knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game at 37 at the break.
- The Hoyas came out of the locker room with quick buckets, including a Peavy dunk to force a 'Cuse timeout. The Hoyas continued to push and after draining a pair of triples, the Hoyas led by six (49-43).
- GU took its largest lead at 13:45 on an Epps layup for the 54-46 advantage. However, the Orange were able to cut into the deficit with back-to-back buckets before a skirmish on the floor got the crowd back in the game and swung the momentum to the home squad. The Orange clawed their way back with trips to the charity stripe, eventually tying the game at 56 before taking their first lead of the frame, all behind free throws.
- Syracuse took a six-point lead (64-58) before a 9-2 run, fueled by Fielder and Sorber buckets and capped by an Epps 3-pointer, put the lead back with the Hoyas, 67-66.
- An Orange 3-pointer gave SU the 69-67 lead but it would not last as a Mack free throw and an Epps layup gave the Blue & Gray a lead they would not relinquish. The Hoyas held on for the 75-71 victory at the final whistle.
