Hoyas Return Home to Host UMES

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return after a 12-day break to close out the nonconference slate on Saturday evening at McDonough Arena against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (6-5) is coming off of a tough 79-44 decision at No. 2 UConn on Sunday, December 15 in the squad's BIG EAST Conference opener.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins led the Hoyas with 12 points to go along with a squad-best nine rebounds.
  • Freshman Jaeda Wilson was also in double figures scoring 10 points and pulling down three boards.
  • Ransom is second in the league in scoring (19.8 ppg) and third in assists (4.1 apg) as well as sixth in steals (2.1 spg).
  • Jenkins is second on the team in scoring averaging 13.0 ppg with a trio of double-doubles on the season. She also leads the league on the glass with 9.9 rpg and sits at sixth in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.3 per game.
  • Junior Victoria Rivera rounds out the top three in scoring averaging 12.0 ppg. She is currently leading the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 30, and is third in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 40.0 percent.
  • Georgetown is looking for finish nonconference play with a victory as the Hoyas sit at 6-4 against non-league opponents.
About the UMES
  • UMES is 4-9 on the season and coming off of a 70-52 loss to Mississippi State at home before the holidays.
  • Mahogany Lester led the team with 12 points, while Dakieran Turner managed 11 in the loss.
  • Zamara Haynes leads the squad on the season as the lone Hawk in double figures with 12.8 ppg.
  • The Hawks were selected to finish sixth in the MEAC Preseason Poll, and had two players named Preseason All-MEAC in graduate students Lester and Haynes.
  • There will be a familiar face on the sidelines as former women's basketball player Adria Crawford is in her first season at UMES. Crawford and the Hoyas went to three NCAA Tournaments in her time on the Hilltop.

  • The Hoyas are 7-0 all-time against the Hawks and 5-0 at home.
  • Last year, the Blue & Gray opened the season against UMES at McDonough Arena as GU came away with the 61-50 victory.
