Hoyas Travel to Richmond to Take On Spiders

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will continue its six-game road swing with a trip to Richmond, Virginia to face the University of Richmond Spiders on Wednesday evening. The contest is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. at the Robins Center.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (4-3) is coming off of a win over Howard University on Sunday. Despite trailing in the fourth quarter, the Hoyas held on for the 69-63 win marking GU's fourth of the season.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas with 28 points to go along with five rebounds, six assists and three steals.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins managed nine points and a squad-best 12 boards, while freshman Jaeda Wilson also posted nine points in the contest.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 49.1% (26-53) from the field, and allowed the Bison just 34.8% (24-69) shooting.
  • On Monday, Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season. Ransom averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in a two-game week for Georgetown.
  • Ransom is third in the league in scoring (20.4 ppg) and sixth in rebounding (6.7 rpg) as well as second in assists (4.7 apg) and seventh in steals (2.4 spg).
  • Junior Victoria Rivera is second on the team in scoring averaging 12.9 ppg. She is currently second in the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 20, and is fourth in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 43.5 percent.
  • Jenkins rounds out the top three with a pair of double-doubles on the season and 12.0 ppg. Jenkins leads in the league on the glass with 9.3 rpg and sits at third in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.8 per game.
  • Wednesday is the fifth of the six-game road swing for the Blue & Gray. GU will not return to McDonough Arena until December 9 despite playing two games in The District during the stretch.
About the Spiders
  • Richmond has started 8-0 after a pair of victories at the Daytona Beach Classic this past weekend.
  • The Spiders defeated Oakland 76-49 on Friday behind a 35-point performance from Rachel Ullstrom and followed up with a 57-53 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday, powered by Maggie Doogan's 22 points.
  • Ullstrom has led the way for Richmond this season, averaging 16.8 points per game on 55.3 percent shooting, including 43.1 percent from three-point range.
  • She is complemented by Doogan, who has added 13.6 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
