Hoyas Return Home to Host George Mason on Monday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return home after a six-game road trip to host the George Mason University Patriots on Monday evening at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (5-3) is coming off of a 71-57 wire-to-wire victory over the Colgate University Raiders on Saturday in the Coaches vs. Racism Roundball Classic at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
  • Victoria Rivera led the Hoyas with a career-high 21 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom managed 19 points, while senior Ariel Jenkins rounded out those in double figures with her second double-double of the season scoring 16 points to go along with 12 boards.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 43.5% (27-62) from the field, and held the Raiders to 38.8% (19-49) in the contest.
  • Georgetown outrebounded Colgate 39-29, and forced 13 Raider turnovers on five steals.
  • Ransom is second in the league in scoring (20.3 ppg) and fifth in assists (4.4 apg) as well as fifth in steals (2.4 spg).
  • Rivera is second on the team in scoring averaging 13.7 ppg. She is currently leading the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 27, and is third in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 43.5 percent.
  • Jenkins rounds out the top three with a pair of double-doubles on the season and 12.4 ppg. Jenkins leads the league on the glass with 9.3 rpg and sits at fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.4 per game.
  • Monday marks GU's first game back at McDonough since November 19. The squad will not be back at home until December 28 as the Blue & Gray breaks for finals and the holidays.
About the Patriots
  • George Mason is 8-1 on the season with its lone loss coming against Maryland in the Navy Classic on November 30 by a score of 66-56.
  • The squad is led by Kennedy Harris who is averaging 16.5 ppg, and Zahirah Walton who has posted 11.8 ppg this season.
  • Nalani Kaysia is pulling down 9.4 rpg as well as scoring 9.2 ppg.
  • Walton was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Preseason Second Team, while Kaysia, Ta'Viyanna Habib, and Harris were selected to the All-Atlantic 10 Preseason Third Team marking the most preseason honors since George Mason joined the A-10 in 2013-14.
  • The team was selected to finish third overall. GMU opened conference play last week with an 87-55 victory over George Washington.
