Georgetown Hosts St. John’s on Tuesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the St. John's University Red Storm on Tuesday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports presented by Invesco QQQ.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is sitting at 16-10 overall and 6-9 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • GU is coming off of a tough 85-44 loss at No. 15/14 UConn on Friday evening at Gampel Pavilion.
  • Sophomore Victoria Rivera led the way as the lone Hoya in double figures, tying her career high with 16 points in the contest.
  • Graduate student Graceann Bennett added seven points as well as a squad-best five rebounds.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 31.4% (16-51) from the field, and Georgetown allowed 49.3% (33-67) shooting by the Huskies. GU was outrebounded by UConn 45-28, and Georgetown forced 11 Husky turnovers on four steals.
  • Senior Kelsey Ransom leads the team in almost all categories. She is 14th in the league in scoring (13.5 ppg), 20th in rebounding (5.0 rpg), fifth in assists (4.0 apg) and is sixth in the league with 2.1 steals per game.
  • Graduate student Bennett is second on the team with 9.7 ppg as well as a team-best 7.3 rpg which ranks 10th in the BIG EAST.
  • Junior Brianna Scott rounds out the top three with 8.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg (14th in the BIG EAST) and 1.4 blocks per game, the block total puts her fourth in the conference.
  • The Hoyas are leading the league and ranked 17th in the nation in scoring defense averaging 55.4 ppg.
About the Red Storm
  • St. John's is 15-12 on the season and 9-6 in BIG EAST Conference play to sit at fourth in the league.
  • SJU is coming off of a 71-51 loss to No. 20/19 St. John's on Friday evening.
  • Ber'Nyah Mayo led the way with a team-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. The senior recorded a season-high with five steals and five rebounds.
  • Jillian Archer also finished in double-figures logging 11 points and grabbing a team-high six boards.
  • Unique Drake leads the Red Storm with 18.5 ppg. She is joined in double figures by Archer (11.5) and Mayo (10.6). Archer also has 7.5 rpg to her credit.
Series Info
  • This will be the 73rd meeting between the two BIG EAST teams dating back to 1981, the Hoyas are 30-43 against the Red Storm.
  • The Hoyas are 18-17 in the series at home.
  • The last matchup between Georgetown and the Red Storm was a tough 57-56 loss in New York. The Hoyas trailed by 16 heading into the fourth quarter, and used a 12-2 run over the final three minutes to almost pull off the comeback.
  • Ransom led the way for the Hoyas with 19 points and a team-high seven assists as well as three rebounds.
  • The last contest at McDonough was a 68-48 loss a season ago.
