WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team secured its first win of the season coming from behind to defeat Navy 5-3. With the win, GU improves to 1-3 on the season while the Midshipmen fall to 2-2.
ON THE RECORD
"Really proud of our group as it was one of those days where it wasn't going our way as we hit into four double-plays, and we couldn't get things going offensively. Credit to our pitchers,
Kai Leckszas gave us a good start,
Jordan Yoder was awesome out of the bullpen,
Cody Jensen gave us a solid three innings and
Nick Davis earned his first save as a Hoya. It was really good for our guys to get the win, and, other than the two errors, we played pretty well defensively. We were down to our last cracks at it in the ninth, and we did a good job putting the ball in play. Some of the guys that came off the bench were good for us like
Andrew Bergeron was able to get us going, and
Kavi Caster,
Jake Hyde,
Marco Castillo and
Christian Ficca all did a really good job today. I am proud of this group as we found a way to get the job done on the road against a really good team." – Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
