Hoyas Fall at Home to Harvard

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (2-2) fell to the Harvard Crimson (2-0) 20-4 on Cooper Field on Friday night. 

How It Happened
  • The Crimson came out fast, scoring three consecutive goals. Gracie Driggs got the Hoyas on the board at the 10:49 mark followed by a goal from Emma Gebhardt to bring the Hoyas within one (3-2). Harvard dominated the rest of the quarter, scoring eight unanswered goals. 
  • The Hoyas held the Crimson scoreless in the opening six minutes of the second quarter but Harvard would finish the half leading 15-2. 
  • Harvard continued its 15-goal run in the third to reach a 19-2 lead. 
  • The Hoyas took control in the fourth scoring two back-to-back goals, including Leanna Tsahalis' first goal of the season. The Crimson scored a final goal at the 3:30  mark to earn a 20-4 win. 
Of Note
  • Four separate Hoyas scored in the contest while six Hoyas recorded at least one point.
  • Leah Warehime started in net for GU and made six saves during the first half of the contest.
  • Olivia Shinsato played in her first collegiate game after entering the game at the start of the second half. The freshman made three saves in her debut. 

Up Next 
The Hoyas will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to take on No. 12 Johns Hopkins University. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Homewood Field.
