WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (2-3) dropped a close game to the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (4-2) 10-9 after a fourth-quarter comeback on Wednesday afternoon at Homewood Field.

How It Happened
- The Blue Jays started off the game strong, scoring two unanswered goals in the first six minutes of play. The Hoyas found an offensive groove later into the quarter, sparked by a goal from Kylie Hazen with 6:03 on the clock. Despite Hopkins answering with a goal to make it 3-1, the Hoyas battled back as Tatum Geist grabbed a ground ball in the center of the eight-meter area and converted it for a goal. Gracie Driggs tied the game at 3-3 off a pass from Maley Starr with a little more than one minute to go in the quarter. The Hoyas continued their push to overtake the Blue Jays at the buzzer, as Tessa Brooks found Katie Goldsmith in the center to make it 4-3.
- The Hoyas were held scoreless in the second quarter, while Hopkins came out the gate to tie the game thirty seconds in. The Blue Jays continued to score two more goals throughout the quarter, ending the half leading 6-4.
- Driggs broke the scoring drought for the Hoyas in the third quarter with a behind-the-back goal at 12:39 in the third quarter. Hopkins responded with two more goals, but Tessa Brooks brought it back to a two-goal game at 8-6 with a successful free position goal. The Blue Jays added one more goal to settle the score at 9-6 entering the final quarter.
- The Hoyas made another run in the fourth quarter, scoring two goals in two minutes as Hazen set up Geist from behind the crease and Emma Gebhart found the back of the net at the 6:06 mark. With the score at 10-8, Driggs put the Hoyas only one goal behind the Blue Jays with 2:23 left in the game. Still the Hopkins defense held strong and finished the game on top 10-9.
Of Note
- Hazen led GU's offensive with four points (1 G, 3 A) while Driggs led the Hoyas in scoring with three goals.
- Melissa Massimino tallied a squad best two caused turnovers.
- Driggs also led the Hoyas in the circle with a team-best four draw controls.
- In net, Leah Warehime made nine saves.

- The Hoyas will return to the Hilltop on Saturday, March 2 to take on Delaware. The opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Cooper Field.
