WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team downed the VMI Keydets 8-1 on Saturday afternoon behind a stellar performance from
Jake Hyde. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 2-4 on the season while VMI slides to 3-4. Game three of the series is slated for tomorrow, February 25 with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
ON THE RECORD
"I am really proud of our group today and how we came back and responded against a very good VMI team.
Cody Bowker gave us a great start;
Andrew Williams was great out of the bullpen throwing zeros up and
Jordan Yoder and
Andrew Citron were both outstanding out of the bullpen. Offensively,
Jake Hyde had an amazing day starting it off with a leadoff home run and going 3-for-5 at the plate.
Christian Ficca was great today giving us the extra insurance late in the game and
Kavi Caster had a huge defensive play in the seventh to throw their guy out from center. Really proud of our group and the way we responded, and we are looking forward to tomorrow where we have a chance to win a series." – Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
