WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming & diving teams will head to Indianapolis, Indiana for the BIG East Championships, presented by JEEP, on February 28- March 2 at the IUPUI Natatorium.
MEET INFORMATION.Â
- The four day meet will begin on Wednesday with diving preliminaries starting at 3:15 p.m. and the event finals beginning at 5:45 p.m.
- On Thursday, Friday and Saturday swimming prelims will begin at 10 a.m. followed by diving prelims at 1 p.m.
- Event finals will start at 5:45 p.m. each day.Â
- All Championship action will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports Presented by Invesco QQQ, with wall-to-wall coverage that includes all event preliminaries, finals and awards.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- The men's team will be fighting to defend its back-to-back 2023 championship title while the women's team will be looking for its first BIG EAST Championship win in program history.Â
- In the 2023 championship victory, the men captured 13 medals, bringing home three gold, six silver and four bronze.
- Last year the women earned 11 medals (two gold, six silver and three bronze) to finish in third place with 1265.5 points.Â
- At the 2023 BIG EAST Championship, Erin Hood earned one gold medal in the 400 IM and two silver in the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM. This season, Hood currently holds the fastest time in the conference in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.57) and the second fastest time in the 200 IM (2:01.47)
- The GU women's team currently holds the fastest times in the BIG EAST in three out of the five relay events. The Hoyas dominated the 200 medley relay (1:41.01), 800 free relay (7:24.63), 400 free relay (3:24.52).
- The men's team currently holds the fastest times in the BIG EAST in three out of the five relay events. The Hoyas prevail in the 200 medley relay (1:29.23), 400 free relay (3:01.42) and the 200 free relay (1:20.94).Â
- The GU men currently have the four fastest times in the 200 breaststroke with Stephen Kim (1:59.67), Nick Pezzella (2:02.20), Jack Brearton (2:02.33) and Ansen Meyer (2:02.83) at first, second, third and fourth, respectively.
