WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Football Head Coach
Rob Sgarlata released the team's 2024 11-game schedule on Wednesday, presented by MedStar Health. The Hoyas will welcome six opponents to Cooper Field in the fall, including Davidson in its home opener on August 31.
"Our players, coaches and staff are extremely excited for the upcoming 2024 campaign," said Sgarlata. "The schedule will feature six home games at Cooper Field and five away games. The structure of our schedule, with five challenging out of conference games, will prepare us for the Patriot League contests. We open the season against Davidson and then travel to Marist and Sacred Heart before we welcome Brown and Columbia from the Ivy League to the Hilltop. We will take advantage of two bye weeks to prepare for our six league games. Our entire program is working diligently to improve each day in preparation for this upcoming season."
The Blue & Gray will open the season at home against Davidson for the first time since 2019. The Hoyas will then hit the road for two weeks to take on Marist and Sacred Heart. GU will face Marist for the 25th time on September 7, with the Hoyas holding a 19-5 advantage in the series. Last season, GU earned a commanding 49-7 victory over the Red Foxes. The following week, Georgetown will face Sacred Heart at Campus Field in the program's third all-time meeting. In 2023, the Hoyas downed the Pioneers 27-10.
The Hoyas will return to the Hilltop for week four and five to face Ivy League opponents Brown and Columbia. After a week six bye week, Patriot League action will begin when the Blue & Gray face Lafayette at Fisher Stadium on October 12. GU will stay on the road for week eight and travel to Andy Kerr Stadium to take on Colgate.
On October 26, the Hoyas will take on Bucknell at Cooper Field. Last season, GU defeated the Bison 50-47 in overtime in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
The Blue & Gray will kickoff November at home as they take on Lehigh. Last season, GU downed the Mountain Hawks 17-7.
The Hoyas will wrap up the road game schedule on November 16 at Jack Coffey Field when they face Fordham. In 2023, the Hoyas captured a historic win 28-24 over the No.15 Rams to earn the programs first win over a ranked opponent since joining the Patriot League in 2001.
The 2024 season will end at home on November 23 when the Holy Cross Crusaders come to the Hilltop for Senior Day.
