WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team rolled the UAlbany Great Danes 17-3 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 11-6 on the year while UAlbany slides to 0-12. Game two of the series is scheduled for tomorrow, March 16 with first pitch coming at 2 p.m. at Capital One Park.
ON THE RECORD
"We did a great job today and obviously the game getting changed to the morning was different, but I thought our guys handled it well and came out to play today. Scoring 13 runs early was great to see against a really good pitcher. Their pitcher has done very well against some high-quality teams this year and he is tough to face but we found a way to get guys on base and we were able to cash in when we needed to.
Christian Ficca and
Kavi Caster had three home runs combined and it really helped us separate when we needed to. Overall, it was a really good day offensively for us. On the mound,
Marcello Mastroianni gave us another really good start after pitching during the week, so we knew he wasn't going to go long but it was good for him to get out there.
Jordan Yoder and
Jack Volo were solid out of the bullpen for us as well as
Andrew Jergins. It was great to see us play some good baseball on a Friday, and we are looking forward to the rest of the weekend and welcoming more fans to Capital One Park."- Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
