How It Happened
- A back-and-forth first quarter saw both sides trading goals as neither squad could gain momentum. Bundy's second goal of the game with 1:41 remaining gave the Blue & Gray a 3-2 lead but Richmond scored with one second left in the frame to knot things up at 3-3.
- In the second, the Hoyas broke the game open and outscored their hosts 6-1 in the quarter. Vardaro posted a hat trick in the frame alone while Crogan netted both of his goals. Georgetown was methodical in its scoring, posting six goals on only eight shots in the quarter.
- Coming out of the locker room, Vardaro found the net early courtesy of a Carroll assist before the Spiders rattled off three-straight goals to pull within three at 10-7. It was all Georgetown from there as the Blue & Gray scored four unanswered goals in the final 12 minutes of the quarter to lead 14-7 with 15 minutes remaining. The Hoyas had another five goals in the stanza on just eight shots.
- In the final frame, Richmond attacked the Hoyas with a barrage of 12 shots but could only manage to score one. Georgetown's offense held the ball down the stretch, attempting just three shots and taking multiple shot clock violations.
