WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team snaps an eight game losing streak after defeating Villanova 8-6 in the first conference game of the season at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas are now 3-8 on the season and 1-0 in BIG EAST action while Villanova falls to 4-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

How It Happened
- Gracie Driggs got the Hoyas on the board first with a free-position goal at the 11:36 mark. Villanova responded with a three-goal run to earn a two-point lead. At the 5:23 mark, Tessa Brooks netted a free-position goal to bring the Hoyas within one at the end of the first quarter.
- At the beginning of the second quarter, Maley Starr tied the contest 3-3 with a free-position goal. Ten minutes later, Starr netted her second goal of the game to regain the lead for the Blue & Gray.
- Coming out of halftime, Driggs landed a free-position goal to earn the Hoyas their first multi-goal lead of the afternoon. The Wildcats and Hoyas exchanged two pairs of goals to give GU a 7-5 lead at the end of the third.
- After a scoreless opening five minutes of the fourth quarter, Driggs netted her fourth goal of the contest. VU responded with a goal from Ashlyn Hickey at the 5:19 mark but the Hoyas held the lead for a 8-6 victory.
Of Note
- Driggs led the Hoyas' offense with four goals while Starr added two and Brooks and Emma Gebhardt netted one a piece.
- At the circle, Maggie O'Brien and Kendall Steer tallied a team-high two draw controls each.
- O'Brien also led the Hoyas with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
- In net, Leah Warehime made six saves in the win.
- GU outshot VU 22-2 and held the Wildcats to zero shots on goal in the second quarter
