WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team swept the Butler Bulldogs winning game three of the series 15-2 in seven innings. This is the first time in the last 20 years that the Hoyas have swept a conference opponent on the road. With the win, GU improves to 26-9 on the season and 8-1 in BIG EAST action while Butler slides to 13-21 and 1-5 in conference play.
ON THE RECORD
"What a great day for Georgetown. First road BIG EAST sweep in over 20 years is fantastic and it was a great weekend. I am really proud of how we came out today, our offense was fantastic putting up nine in the first inning. There were a lot of good at bats, good approaches, and it was a solid offensive performance. I thought
Everett Catlett gave us what we needed, six innings no earned runs and another quality start. Defensively we played well but I think we did a great job all weekend long just finding ways to win. Today was one of those days where we just controlled the game and played to a pretty good standard. I am really proud of our guys, eight-consecutive series wins, and sixth weekend sweep of the year is great, and I am proud of our organization. Looking forward to getting back to work Tuesday at UMBC."– Head Coach
