Megan Gormley is tied for the individual lead at 2-under 70 and junior
Georgia Ruffolo got the first hole in one of her golf career. The Hoyas are currently in second place at 9-over 297 in the six-team field, trailing Xavier by five strokes after one round.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gormley is currently at 2-under 70, tied with Seton Hall's Ginevra Zavagli for first place. The captain tallied a field-leading five birdies with a pair on the front nine and a trio on the back nine, including back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12. The captain added 11 pars to go with her five birdies.
- Morgan Smith is tied for seventh place at 1-over 73 after the first round. She managed a birdie on hole 2 to go along with 15 pars over the course.
- Ruffolo finished the day in a tie for ninth place at 2-over 74. Ruffolo matched Gormley's field-best five birdies, including four over the course of six holes, but still finished the front nine at 2-over. She struggled to find her rhythm immediately on the back nine but made up for it with a birdie on 15 before her hole in one on 17 for eagle. The junior tallied six pars on the day and records the first hole in one in BIG EAST Championship play for the GU women's golf program.
- Juliette Riot is tied for 22nd at 8-over 80 following 18 holes. Riot calmed down on the back nine, going 2-over, including a birdie on 13. She managed 11 pars on the day.
- Claire Chen is sitting in 25th place at 10-over 82. She was even on the front nine with a pair of birdies and finished the round with eight pars.
