WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's sailing program is competing at the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Team Race National Championship this weekend hosted by Harvard University and held at MIT. The event runs Thursday-Saturday this weekend. GU went 1-2 in the opening races and has 12 races scheduled for Friday. The Hoyas qualified after winning the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) championship earning the Prosser Cup.

About the Hoyas

• GU won the America Trophy MAISA Conference Championship hosted by New York Maritime over the weekend of Apr. 20-21st. This qualified the squad for the ICSA Open Fleet Racing National Championship May 24-27.
• The Hoyas posted a score of 149, defeating its other 17 competitors to take the MAISA Champion title. After their performance, the program received several postseason MAISA honors.

• Mariner Fagan was awarded MAISA Open Sailor of the Year, while Assistant Coach Janel Zarkowsky Martin was named MAISA Coach of the Year.
• Spencer Kriegstein was honored as a MAISA Crew of the Year Finalist, and Piper Holthus earned a spot as a MAISA Women's Sailor of the Year Finalist.
• Addi Harris, Kriegstein, Emily Panarella were named First Team All-MAISA Open Crews. Audrey Fung was featured on the Second Team All-MAISA Open Crews.
• Mateo Di Blasi and Fagan were named First Team All-MAISA Open Skippers. Diego Escobar was awarded Second Team All-MAISA Open Skippers.
• Earlier, Holthus was named First Team All-MAISA Women's Skippers, while Kelly Bates earned Second Team All-MAISA Women's Skippers.
