Hoyas Sweep Creighton in Two-Game Series

OMAHA, Neb. – The Georgetown University baseball team swept the Creighton Bluejays this weekend in a two-game series after securing a 4-3 victory on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 29-13 and 10-4 in BIG EAST play while Creighton slides to 30-11 and 4-7 in conference action. This is the first time since 2018 that the Hoyas have won the series at Creighton. In 2018, GU defeated the Bluejays 6-3 and 8-1 in games two and three of the series.

Game three of the series was canceled due to inclement weather in Omaha. The Hoyas and Bluejays finished yesterday's second game today after play was suspended in the bottom of the eighth inning yesterday. After a 24-hour delay, the sides were able to finish the final 1.2 innings.

ON THE RECORD
"Really proud of our group tonight. What a weekend, got here Thursday and had a tornado Friday. Had a great game in game one yesterday and had to wait a long time yesterday and today to finish this one out. I am really proud of our guys, our effort and how we competed. It was unbelievably hard just to stay focused having been here all day and been up and down time and time again so really proud of how we stayed focused when we needed to most. To sweep here is really special, last time we won a series here was 2018 so it feels great having gotten the job done. In the ninth inning today had a great team at bat from Jake Hyde and Blake Schaff had a big hit allowing us to score and get an extra insurance run. Everett Catlett just had guts, he waited around for about an hour and a half but was tough mentally and got the job done. That is what our team is all about, grit, toughness and our competitive spirit. I am really proud of this group, and we look forward to getting back home."
