The contest was scoreless through the first six frames before Christian Ficca hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh plating the first run of the day for Georgetown. ON THE RECORD
"Today was a great baseball game. This is what you love to see, having both Seton Hall and Georgetown going at each other. Two competitive teams, two competitive programs, on a Friday night and it was just a great baseball game. We had one inning where we strung some hits together and ultimately turned out to be the deciding factor. Our pitching staff did an unbelievable job against their offense. Their pitcher did a good job as well, but we were able to find a way to get those few runs with Christian Ficca's big two RBI single, and Joe Hollerbach's hit behind him allowing us to score those three runs. Tonight, that is all we needed and that is what we do often, play good defense, pitch well and get some big-time hits. I am really proud of our guys after having the delay in the middle of the week and not playing for a bit, coming back out here and putting together a solid performance. We are looking forward to game two tomorrow night here at Capital One Park." – Head Coach Edwin Thompson
