WASHINGTON – Senior
Megan Gormley turned in a runner-up performance as the Georgetown women's golf team finished fourth at the Rutgers Invitational following 18 holes played on Sunday in Piscataway, New Jersey. The Hoyas finished fourth following the final round played on the par-71, 6,016-yard course at the Rutgers University Golf Course where one stroke each separated the second-, third- and fourth-place squads.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gormley tallied the third runner-up performance of her collegiate career as she shot up three spots in the final round to finish second after carding a 5-over 218 (78-70-70). She tallied four birdies and 11 pars over her final 18 holes, totaling 12 birdies over 54 holes to go along with 27 pars. Her 1-under 70 in the final round is tied with two others for the best score from the third round as no one broke 70 on the day.
- Claire Chen tied for 13th at 15-over 228 (73-79-76). Her 5-over 76 in the final round was fueled by one birdie and 11 pars. Her three-round score included eight birdies to go along with 27 pars.
- Georgia Ruffolo tied for 18th at 17-over 230 (79-74-77). Her 6-over 77 featured a trio of birdies, including back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18, to go along with nine pars. Over 54 holes, the junior totaled six birdies and 30 pars.
- Morgan Smith also tied for 18th at 17-over 230 (75-76-79). Her final 18 holes included one birdie and nine pars for a three-round total of three and 31, respectively.
- Juliette Riot moved up a spot as he tied for 45th at 28-over 241 (80-84-77). Her final round featured a pair of birdies to go along with eight pars. Over the three rounds, she tallied four birdies and 24 pars.
- Vicky Zhu also tied for 45th at 28-over 241 (79-83-79). She managed 10 pars in the final round for a total of one birdie and 27 pars over 54 holes.
