WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team came from behind to defeat the University of Maryland Terrapins 13-12 on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Georgetown improves to 22-9 while Maryland slides to 22-11 on the season.
ON THE RECORD
"Tonight was a complete game from our guys, a true team victory. Maryland is back-to-back Big Ten Champions and one of the best teams in the country. I thought our guys just battled, we started slow and were down early, but we just found a way to chip away at it. When you have
Jake Hyde and
Owen Carapellotti each hit two home runs, it goes a long way against a team like Maryland.
Christian Ficca had a big home run for us and was able to give us what we needed when it mattered the most. Our bullpen of
Cody Jensen,
Andrew Citron,
Jack Volo and
Nick Davis were great, and it was awesome to see Volo get his first victory on the mound. Guys off the bench were big for us today,
Ashtin Gilio had two huge doubles for us, and it just goes to show how much of a team effort today was. I am proud of our guys and how we competed, and we look forward to another test tomorrow against Towson." – Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
