WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team outscored visiting Penn State 11-5 in the final three quarters, including 5-0 in the final frame, to win 12-9 in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Sunday afternoon in the Nation's Capital. The Hoyas improve to 13-3 on the season and advance to their 12th NCAA Quarterfinals in program history next Saturday in Hempstead, New York.

How It Happened
- Penn State (11-5) controlled the game in the first, scoring the first two goals before Wray netted his first to make it 2-1 with 7:42 remaining. The Nittany Lions responded just 32 seconds later and added another goal at the 2:21 mark to lead 4-1 after 15 minutes of action.
- Looking to keep momentum in its favor, PSU scored three of the first four goals in the second period to lead 7-2 with seven minutes remaining in the half. Coming out the media timeout, the Hoyas looked like a team possessed and flipped the script on the game from there on out. Georgetown scored four unanswered goals, including Bundy's with nine seconds remaining, to pull within a goal down 7-6 at the half.
- Coming out of the break, Penn State kept things close and capitalized on a low-scoring third quarter to retake a two-goal lead up 9-7 going into the final frame.
- Georgetown dominated down the stretch, scoring a pole goal from Banks in transition 44 seconds in the fourth and adding the equalizer at the 11:54 mark from Wray off a rebound in front of the goal. Back-to-back goals from Crogan courtesy of Haley assists, both 1:21 apart, gave the Hoyas a two-goal cushion with 7:10 play before Schubert shut the door on any chance of a Nittany Lion comeback with an empty-net goal against the 10-man ride with 24 seconds remaining.
- The Hoyas defense was stout to close out the game, forcing four Penn State turnovers in the fourth quarter while Moore picked up four big time saves in the final possessions.

- Matt Traynor led the Nittany Lions with three goals while TJ Malone had two goals and two assists.
- Defensively, Alex Ross had three caused turnovers.
- Jack Fracyon had 13 saves in the loss.

- Bundy's goal gives him 153 for his career, tying Daniel Bucaro ('19) for second place all-time at Georgetown.
