WASHINGTON – Senior
Kennedy Watson from Georgetown University's women's rowing team was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District consideration, a student must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average and have played in at least half of their team's matches.
Watson earned Academic All-Patriot League honors for the first time earlier this season. She raced in the 2V8+ for all races over the spring 2024 campaign helping the squad take first at the Dad Vail Regatta in the 2V8+ Grand Final and to an Overall Team Points Trophy victory. She was also part of a boat that placed third at the Patriot League Rowing Championship.
In the classroom, Watson was a human science (pre-medical) major with a 3.933 GPA. This impressive GPA made her the valedictorian of the School of Health among all undergraduate students as well as winning the award for top GPA in the school among student-athletes.
Off of the water, Watson has served as the team's mental health representative as well as encouraged the team to become involved in community service efforts.
Watson and other select Academic All-District® honorees have advanced to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 16.
