Football Opens 2024 Campaign at Home Against Davidson

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team will open the 2024 season on the Hilltop against Davidson College on Saturday, August 31. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 PM at Cooper Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS

GU will look to open the 2024 campaign on a winning note, having won six of their last seven season openers. In the 2023 season opener, the Hoyas knocked off Marist at home 49-7.
The Blue & Gray will be led by captains David Ealey III, Losini Maka and two-time captain VeRon Garrison.
The Hoyas return two 2023 All-Patriot League selections in Jimmy Kibble and Nicholas Dunneman.
Dunneman along with Wedner Cadet and Sebastian Alonso were selected to the 2024 Patriot League Preseason All-League Team.
Danny Lauter will get the start as the quarterback for the Hoyas. Last season, the Connecticut native played behind Tyler Knoop, set a new program record for single-game passing yards with 428, and tied the program record for single-game pass completions with 35 against then No. 19/21 Lafayette. He also threw three touchdown passes, including one for 81 yards.

ABOUT THE DAVIDSON WILDCATS

Picked third in the Pioneer Football League Preseason Poll, the Wildcats finished 7-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play last season.
Davidson's Mari Adams (RB), Malik McDaniel (OL), Julian Rawlins (DE) and Daniel Carter (S) were named to the PFL's preseason all-conference team.
Head Coach Scott Abell is entering his seventh season at the helm of the program.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP

Georgetown and Davidson are meeting for the 14th time, with the Hoyas holding a 9-4 advantage in the series having won five of the last six meetings.
The Hoyas and Wildcats last met in the 2019 season opener at Davidson where GU fell 27-20.
Georgetown's last meeting with Davidson on Cooper Field was a 38-14 victory.
