WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University volleyball team is set to host the 2024 DC Showdown, where the Hoyas will face IU Indy, Rider, and George Washington at McDonough Arena. Matches on Friday, September 13 are scheduled for 11:00 a.m against IU Indy and 6:00 p.m. against Rider. Saturday's lone match against George Washington has first serve slated for 4:00 p.m.

About the Hoyas
- Georgetown enters the second year under Head Coach AJ Bonetti. The Hoyas finished the Maryland Invitational with a 3-0 weekend sweep and currently hold an overall record of 4-2.
- Freshman Dionna Mitchell has emerged as an offensive leader, recording an impressive 77 kills on the season with an average of 3.85 kills per set. Mitchell was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week following the Maryland Invitational where she tallied 48 kills on a .274 hitting percentage paired with 42 digs.
- Senior Mary Grace Goyena returns for her final season after leading the team in kills last year with 361, the highest by a Hoya since 2019. Goyena has recorded 49 kills this season which ranks second on the team, and she has averaged 2.45 kills per set.
- Giselle Williams has had a strong start to the season, contributing 39 kills with an average of 3.00 kills per set.
- Senior Karis Park returns as the Hoyas' libero for the 2024 season, after leading the team with 4.06 digs per set last year and earning a BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award during her junior year. Park leads the team in digs with 84 averaging 4.20 per set, and service aces with seven.
- Sophomore setter Emily Wen played in all 115 sets during her debut season, recording a total of 1,101 assists. Wen averaged 9.57 assists per set, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST this past season, the highest among BIG EAST freshmen, and 11th nationally among freshmen. The sophomore currently leads the Hoyas in assists with 174 credited to her and 8.70 assists/set.
- On defense, Vaughan Anoa'i leads the team with 24 blocks, closely followed by Kamryn Lee-Caracci with 17. Lee-Caracci led the team last season with 0.94 blocks per set, ranking second among BIG EAST freshmen.
- Two returning Hoyas, Wen and Lee-Caracci, were recognized with BIG EAST All-Freshman honors last season.
- Georgetown welcomed five newcomers to the team this season: Taylor Mercado, Mitchell, Natalie Nguyen, Berkeley Ploder, and Juleigh Urbina.
- Georgetown was ranked No. 10 in the BIG EAST preseason coaches poll, receiving 27 votes.
Scouting IU Indy
- Friday's match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
- This will mark the first meeting between these programs.
- The Jaguars currently stand at 3-4 this season, with victories over SIUE, Butler, and Bellarmine.
- IU Indy concluded the 2023 season with an overall record of 9-20, including a 3-15 mark in conference play.
Scouting Rider
- Friday's match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
- The Hoyas and the Broncs have met twice and currently split the series. In their last meeting, Georgetown fell 3-1 (25-14, 18-25, 25-21, 25-15) on September 9, 2022.
- The Broncs are currently 1-5 this season.
- Rider wrapped up the 2023 season with an overall record of 12-17, including a 10-8 performance in conference play.
Scouting George Washington
- Saturday's match is set to begin with the first serve at 4:00 p.m.
- Georgetown holds a 9-10 record against George Washington, losing their matchup last season 3-1 (25-17, 17-25, 10-25, 25-14). The Hoyas are 4-3 at home against the Revolutionaries.
- George Washington is currently 5-2 this season.
- The Revolutionaries ended their 2023 campaign with an overall 7-22 record and 4-14 in conference.
