WASHINGTON - Georgetown senior defender Maximus Jennings was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday when the BIG EAST Conference announced its weekly awards. Georgetown went 1-0-1 this past week including a victory over then-No. 18 UNC Greensboro and a draw with Florida International. It is the second week in a row that GU has been recognized and the first BIG EAST Player of the Week honor for the program in 2024.

• Jennings led the Hoyas to a pair of shutouts over the weekend, including a 1-0 win over No. 18 UNC Greensboro and a 0-0 draw against FIU.
• Entering Friday's matchup with four goals and 11 shots on goal to open the season a week ago, the Spartans were limited to just four shots in total and zero on target against No. 16 Georgetown.
• On Monday, Jennings and the Hoyas limited the Panthers to just two shots on goal.
• This is the second player of the week honor for Jennings of his career.
• It's the first player of the week honor for the Hoyas this year and receiving a nod to the honor roll last week.
