About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (2-1-1) played to a scoreless draw against Florida International on Labor Day.
  • The squad had a number of chances, but could not find the back of the net despite outshooting the Panthers 23-11.
  • On Friday, GU's late goal from freshman Mitchell Baker defeated the then-No. 18 UNC Greensboro Spartans 1-0 in the team's home opener.
  • Baker's unassisted goal in the 87th minute was the game winner and marked his third of the season.
  • It marked the Blue & Gray's first win over a ranked opponent this year.
  • The freshman has now scored all three of GU's goals this year, including both game winners.
  • On Tuesday, senior defender Maximus Jennings was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Jennings led the Hoyas to a pair of shutouts as UNCG was limited to just four shots in total and zero on target and FIU managed just two shots on goal.
  • The Hoyas are currently ranked No. 14 in both the United Soccer Coaches Poll and the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Poll.
About the Big Red
  • Cornell opened the season with a 3-0 victory over the Marist Red Foxes at Berman Field on Saturday afternoon.
  • Andrew Johnson, Alex Harris, and Alioune Ka were responsible for the Big Red goals in the contest.
  • Johnson was assessed a red card early in the second half resulting in a one-game suspension.
  • Harris is the top returner for Cornell. He led the Ivy League in points (28) and goals (12) a season ago and has already earned multiple national preseason honors.
