WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team (4-2) defeated Hampton on Saturday evening at McDonough Arena to wrap up the Maryland Invitational and go undefeated on the weekend. The Hoyas took a 3-0 (27-25, 25-7, 25-19 ) victory over the Pirates.
Head Coach AJ Bonetti
"Great way to finish off an outstanding weekend of matches. Each game pushed us in different capacities which ultimately helped us grow. Happy for the team, everyone contributed to our success this weekend. We will enjoy this one and begin our preparation for this week of practice."
Vaughan Anoa'i
"I really try to play for my team and improve in small areas where I was lacking originally. I think as a team, especially after the first set, that we really wanted to come together and play cleaner volleyball, which was something that was a huge point of emphasis for us yesterday against both of the teams that we played. I think going into our next three matches, we are feeling very good. We're in high spirits. It was definitely good redemption after the first weekend, which was a little bit challenging for us. I think we're proud of the way that we rebounded. We came together as a team and ultimately just played Georgetown volleyball. I think that's something that we always talk about during practice and team meetings, so it was great for it to come to fruition on the court today."
