Georgetown Heads to Butler for Midweek Matchup

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will head out on the road to take on the Butler University Bulldogs in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Tuesday at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (8-8, 1-4 BIG EAST) is coming off of a tough 73-55 loss to the No. 7 UConn Huskies on Saturday afternoon at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. 
  • Freshman Khadee Hession led the way with a career-high 22 points, including an impressive 6-8 performance from beyond the arc.
  • Junior Victoria Rivera was also in double figures with 10 points in the contest, and graduate student Kelsey Ransom led GU on the glass with eight rebounds as well as nine points to her credit.
  • For her efforts over two contests last week, Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the fifth time this season, and the 14th time in her career.
  • The graduate student averaged 22.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a two-game week for Georgetown. She also managed 3.5 steals per game to go along with 3.0 assists.
  • She posted a career-high 35 points against Villanova, and also had eight rebounds against UConn.
  • Ransom leads the league in scoring (19.9 ppg) and is second in assists (4.4 apg) as well as sitting third in steals (2.2 spg).
  • Rivera is second on the team averaging 12.6 ppg. She is currently second in the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 44, and is second in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 40.0 percent.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins rounds out those averaging in double figures scoring 12.5 ppg with a quartet of double-doubles on the season. She also leads the league on the glass with 10.2 rpg and sits at fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.4 per game.
About the Bulldogs
  • Butler is 11-7 overall and 1-4 in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 57-47 win over Providence this past weekend.
  • Kilyn McGuff led Butler in the victory against Providence with 14 points and seven rebounds.
  • Sydney Jaynes added 13 points, and Karsyn Norman managed 11.
  • McGuff is BU's top active point scorer averaging 11.0 ppg as well as 8.1 rpg.
Series Info
  • This will be the 24th meeting between the two BIG EAST teams dating back to 2013-14, and the Hoyas are 12-11 against the Bulldogs.
  • The Hoyas are 5-6 in the series on the road.
  • The last meeting was a 70-63 victory at home a season ago as Ransom led the Hoyas with 31 points in the contest.
  • The last meeting at Hinkle was in early January, 2024 as GU managed the 60-55 win.
