Georgetown to Face Marquette on Saturday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to Milwaukee to take on the Marquette University Golden Eagles in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center. The opening tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (10-9, 3-5 BIG EAST) is coming off of an exciting last second 56-54 win over the St. John's University Red Storm on Wednesday evening at home.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom scored the game winning bucket with three seconds on the clock as the Hoyas fought through a late Red Storm rally.
  • Ransom led the way with 28 points, going a perfect 6-6 from the line, while senior Ariel Jenkins was dominant down low posting 14 points and 12 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. She was also an impressive 7-8 from the field.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 44.2% (23-52) from the field, and held the Red Storm to just 37.7% (20-53) shooting in the contest.
  • Georgetown outrebounded St. John's, 31-27, and forced 18 Red Storm turnovers on five steals.
  • For her efforts in the one contest she appeared in last week, junior Victoria Rivera was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the first time this season, and the second time in her career.
  • Ransom is leading the league in scoring averaging 19.5 ppg, and is fourth in steals with 2.2 spg.
  • Rivera is second on the team averaging 12.6 ppg. She currently leads the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 51, and is third in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 40.8 percent.
  • Jenkins rounds out those averaging in double figures, also scoring 12.6 ppg with six double-doubles on the season. She leads the league on the glass with 10.3 rpg and sits at fifth in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.1 per game.
About the Golden Eagles
  • Marquette is 12-6 overall and 4-3 in BIG EAST play. MU is coming off of a 67-54 victory over Providence on Wednesday evening in Rhode Island.
  • A third quarter push helped the Golden Eagles get past PC as Skylar Forbes had 23 points, four boards, two assists and two steals.
  • Jaidynn Mason added 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Halle Vice had 13 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
  • MU is led by Cara Consuegra in her first season at the helm after serving as an assistant from 2004-11.
Series Info
  • This will be the 32nd meeting between the two BIG EAST teams dating back to 2005-06, the Hoyas are 4-27 against the Golden Eagles and 1-14 on the road.  
  • The last meeting was a 52-38 loss in Milwaukee a season ago, the squads only met once last year.
  • Graceann Bennett led the way for the Hoyas with seven points as well as a squad-high eight rebounds, while Mya Bembry added five steals.
