Georgetown Travels to Seton Hall for Saturday Showdown

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will head out on the road to take on the Seton Hall University Pirates in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, New Jersey. The opening tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (8-5, 1-1 BIG EAST) is coming off of a 64-41 victory over the Xavier University Musketeers on Monday evening. The contest was close until the fourth quarter when the Hoyas outscored the Musketeers 23-4 to pull away and get the win.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins led the way with an all-around performance and her fourth double-double of the season posting 22 points and 14 rebounds as well as three steals and one assist.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom was also in double figures scoring 14, while junior Victoria Rivera had 11 and freshman Khadee Hession rounded it out with 10 points in the contest.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 38.2% (21-55) from the field, and held the Musketeers to 35.4% (17-48) shooting in the contest.
  • Georgetown outrebounded XU, 41-24, and forced 15 Musketeer turnovers on 11 steals.
  • Ransom is second in the league in scoring (20.1 ppg) and second in assists (4.4 apg) as well as fifth in steals (2.1 spg).
  • Jenkins is second on the team in scoring averaging 13.2 ppg with a quartet of double-doubles on the season. She also leads the league on the glass with 10.0 rpg and sits at sixth in the BIG EAST in blocks averaging 1.2 per game.
  • Rivera rounds out the top three in scoring averaging 12.0 ppg. She is currently leading the BIG EAST in 3-pointers with 35, and is fourth in the league in 3-point percentage hitting 38.5 percent.
About the Pirates
  • Seton Hall is 11-3 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in BIG EAST play.
  • In their last outing, Faith Masonius flipped the ball over her head to score the winning basket at the buzzer as the Pirates stunned Villanova, 56-55, at Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday.
  • Masonius finished with a team-high 17 points to go with five rebounds, while Jada Eads had 11 points and five rebounds.
  • Masonius leads the team with 17.4 ppg, while Eads is averaging 13.3 ppg and Savannah Catalon rounds out those in double figures with 13.1 ppg.
  • SHU was picked to finish seventh in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll.

  • This will be the 77th meeting between the two BIG EAST teams dating back to 1980, with Seton Hall leading the series 46-30.
