WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team downed Butler 5-0 on Wednesday night at Shaw Field. With the win, GU improves to 8-2-2 overall and 4-0 in BIG EAST play, while Butler falls to 4-2-5 and 1-1-2 in league action.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Tonight was probably our best performance of the season on both sides of the ball. Barring the initial stage where they had us under a little bit of pressure on a run of set pieces, I felt we managed the game very well. We got some good goals from the run of play, which is what we wanted. We got some really good performances with Natalie, Maya, Shay and Lizzie in the middle of the park. I thought they did a really good job. And I thought we handled their special player, that number 18, very, very well. She's always a threat, and I thought we did a good job managing that. Tonight gives us three points and a chance to get a lot of kids on the field, which was important. So now we just turn around and we get ready for the trip up to New York for a game on Saturday night against St John's.
