WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's soccer players
Zach Zengue and
Mitchell Baker earned United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America honors on Friday. They were two of three student-athletes from the BIG EAST Conference to be on the list, and Georgetown was one of six institutions with multiple honorees.
Zach Zengue
First Team All-American
- Zengue was the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Earlier this week, he was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist as well as First Team All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
- Zengue started all 22 games he appeared in and had a team-leading 14 goals and 14 assists for 42 points on the season.
- This includes three game winners and four penalty kicks.
- The North Oaks, Minnesota native led the BIG EAST in points, goals and assists while ranking third, eighth and third in the three categories in the nation, respectively.
- He was a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection and earned three BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week awards this past season while also being named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on two occasions.
- He has also been a part of the MAC Hermann Trophy pool earning a place on both the Watch List and Midseason List.
- Following his sophomore year, he was selected by the Columbus Crew in the second round with the 29th pick and 58th overall in the MLS Draft.
- This is his first All-America honor.
Mitchell Baker
Second Team All-American
- Baker was a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Earlier this week, he was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist as well as First Team All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
- Baker started all 21 games he appeared in and ranked second on the squad in scoring with 14 goals and three assists for 31 points on the year.
- His five game winners led the BIG EAST Conference and ranked sixth in the nation.
- Baker was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week once this past season as well as earning three nods to the weekly honor roll.
- He was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team following Georgetown's victory.
- This is his first-career regional award on the Hilltop.
- The Melbourne, Australia native was a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection.
- This is his first All-America honor.
