Hoya Host Butler on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the Butler University Bulldogs in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at McDonough Arena. The opening tip was rescheduled for 2 p.m. due to potential inclement weather.

 About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (11-12, 4-8 BIG EAST) was edged 80-76 by the DePaul University Blue Demons on Sunday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the way with 18 points and eight boards as well as five assists and three steals.
  • Junior Victoria Rivera and freshman Khadee Hession scored 16 points and three assists apiece, and Rivera pulled down eight rebounds while Hession managed three steals.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 33.3% (23-69) from the field, but allowed the Blue Demons 41.1% (23-56) shooting in the contest.
  • Georgetown was outrebounded by DePaul, 46-35, and forced 13 DPU turnovers on six steals.
  • Despite the loss, it was a record night for Ransom and the Hoyas. Ransom's five assists helped her become the program's all-time career assist leader with 510 which surpassed Rubylee Wright who had 506 in her career. Ransom also became the all-time leader in games played with 133.
  • On Monday, Ransom earned a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, her seventh this season and the 16th of her career.
  • The team went a perfect 21-21 at the line, setting the Georgetown record for free throw percentage in a game with the most makes. The previous record was when the Blue & Gray went 20-20 in an 81-62 loss to Miami on February 13, 1999.
  • Ransom leads the league in scoring (19.6 ppg) and sits at third in steals (2.2 spg).
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins is second on the team, averaging 12.0 ppg. She leads the league on the glass with 10.0 rpg and sits at sixth in the BIG EAST in blocks, averaging 1.4 per game.
  • Rivera rounds out those averaging in double figures, scoring 11.9 ppg. She currently leads the BIG EAST in both 3-pointers, with 55, and 3-point percentage, hitting 36.9 percent.
 About the Bulldogs
  • Butler is 13-13 overall and 3-10 in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs are coming off of Sunday's 67-65 victory over Marquette University at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • BU jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first 3 minutes of the game and carried this momentum throughout, with Sydney Jaynes scoring the winning bucket for the Bulldogs with 12 seconds to go in regulation.
  • The Bulldogs were led by 21 points from Kilyn McGuff along with 15 from Lily Zeinstra and 10 from Jaynes.
  • McGuff sits at third in the league on the glass, averaging 8.27 rpg.

  • This will be the 25th meeting between the two BIG EAST teams; the Hoyas are deadlocked at 12-12 all-time against Butler.
  • The Hoyas are 6-5 in the series at home.

  • The last home meeting at McDonough Area was a 70-63 victory during the 2023-24 season when the Blue & Gray shot 46.2% (24-52) from the field, and allowed just 38.6% (22-57) shooting by the Bulldogs.
  • Ransom led that game with a then career-high 31 points as well as five assists, four steals and two blocks.
