WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought 11-9 setback to visiting top-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday at Cooper Field. The No. 11 Hoyas fall to 2-2 overall while the Fighting Irish improve to 3-0 on the year.

How it Happened
- Notre Dame opened the game hot, scoring six-straight goals in the first 10 minutes of action. The Hoyas would settle in from there, netting a pair to close out the frame including a Wray shot to the top corner as time expired to make it 6-2.
- In the second, Georgetown controlled the pace of the quarter early and used a four-goal outburst to knot things up at 6-6 with 5:18 to play on a Carroll goal. The Irish would respond with back-to-back goals in the final 2:16 of the half to take an 8-6 lead going into the break.
- Coming out of the locker room, both teams clamped down defensively with only 12 total shots taken by both teams combined en route to a scoreless frame.
- Notre Dame looked to put things away with two goals in the first five minutes of the fourth to lead 10-6 but the Hoyas wouldn't go away quietly. Three-straight scores from the Blue & Gray in a six-minute span made it a one-goal game at 10-9 with four minutes to play but the Irish added an insurance goal with two minutes left to close out the 11-9 victory.
Notre Dame Notes
- Chris Kavanagh led the Fighting Irish with three goals and an assist while Will Angrick and Jalen Seymour both had two goals.
- Will Lynch won 15-of-22 faceoffs and had a game-high eight ground balls.
- In goal, Thomas Ricciardelli (3-0) had 16 saves in the win, including six in the first quarter.
