Georgetown Concludes Road Schedule at St. John’s

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to Queens, New York on Wednesday to face the St. John's Red Storm in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Carnesecca Arena. This will be the final road game of the regular season for the Hoyas. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (11-16, 4-12 BIG EAST) lost a close one 55-50 to the Marquette University Golden Eagles on Saturday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the way with 22 points, while freshman Alexia Araujo-Dagba had a good night with eight points in the contest.
  • Senior Ariel Jenkins led the Hoyas on the glass with 11 rebounds on the night.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 32.7% (17-52) from the field, but allowed the Golden Eagles 33.9% (19-56) shooting in the contest.
  • Georgetown outrebounded Marquette, 42-32, and forced 13 MU turnovers on five steals.
  • Ransom leads the league in scoring (19.9 ppg) and sits at third in steals (2.19 spg).
  • Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for last week's performance. This was her eighth nod to the honor roll this season and the 17th of her career.
  • Jenkins is second on the team, averaging 11.8 ppg. She leads the league on the glass with 10.2 rpg.
  • Junior Victoria Rivera rounds out those averaging in double figures, scoring 11.3 ppg. She is third in the league in 3-pointers with 60 on the season.
About the Red Storm
  • St. John's is 14-13 overall and 4-12 in BIG EAST play.
  • SJU is coming off of a 66-57 loss to Seton Hall in Queens on Sunday.
  • A final quarter push from Ber'Nyah Mayo couldn't quite put the Red Storm over the top as Mayo tallied 15 points and seven rebounds against the Pirates.
  • Lashae Dwyer scored a team-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Kylie Lavelle added 10 points for the Red Storm.
  • Dwyer leads the squad with 13.3 ppg, while Mayo is averaging 10.4 ppg on the season.
