Hoyas Host Providence on FS1

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will return home and host the Providence College Friars in both teams' BIG EAST Conference finale on Saturday afternoon at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on FS1 with Wayne Randazzo and Christy Winters Scott calling the action. Saturday is presented by Invesco QQQ and the first 500 fans will receive a rope hat. Additionally, there will be a short ceremony prior to tipoff to recognize the Class of 2025.

  • Georgetown (11-17, 4-13 BIG EAST) fell to the St. John's University Red Storm 83-49 on Wednesday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the way with 14 points, while senior Ariel Jenkins had a game-high 11 boards.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 35.3% (18-51) from the field, but allowed the Red Storm 50.0% (31-62) shooting in the contest.
  • Georgetown was outrebounded by St. John's, 34-31, and forced eight SJU turnovers on three steals.
  • Ransom is second in the league in scoring (19.6 ppg) and sits at fifth in steals (2.11 spg).
  • Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for last week's performance. This was her eighth nod to the honor roll this season and the 17th of her career.
  • Jenkins is second on the team, averaging 11.4 ppg. She leads the league on the glass with 10.2 rpg and in double-doubles with 10 on the year. Her 4.4 offensive rebounds per game is ninth in the country.
  • Junior Victoria Rivera rounds out those averaging in double figures, scoring 11.0 ppg. She is third in the BIG EAST in 3-pointers, with 60, and fourth in 3-point percentage, hitting 35.7 percent.
About the Friars
  • Providence is 12-18 overall and 5-12 in BIG EAST play.
  • The Friars are coming off of a bye on Wednesday, and most recently defeated Villanova 63-56 on February 23.
  • Olivia Olsen paced the Friars with her 10th double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 boards.
  • Brynn Farrell finished the day with 17 points, seven rebounds, two steals and a career-high eight assists.
  • Grace Efosa is PC's top scorer averaging 13.2 ppg, while Olsen is second with 10.6 ppg as well as 8.5 rpg.
  • The Friars are currently sitting tied for seventh in league play.

  • This will be the 77th meeting between the two BIG EAST teams dating back to 1981-82, the Hoyas are 44-32 against the Friars.
