Georgetown Travels to Xavier on Wednesday

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday to face the Xavier Musketeers in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at Cintas Center. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (10-11, 3-7 BIG EAST) is coming off of an 84-70 loss to the Creighton University Bluejays on Wednesday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena.
  • The Hoyas cut it to seven late in the game after trailing by as much as 19, but could not complete the comeback.
  • Graduate student Kelsey Ransom led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds in the contest, she also had four assists and a steal.
  • Freshman Khadee Hession had 17 for the Hoyas with five rebounds and three steals.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 46.7% (28-60) from the field, but allowed the Bluejays 55.4% (31-56) shooting in the contest.
  • Ransom hit a career milestone on Wednesday as she became the first player in program history to score 1,000 points, pull down 500 rebounds and manage 500 assists.

About the Musketeers
  • Xavier is 6-16 overall and 1-10 in BIG EAST play. The Musketeers are coming off of a 55-44 loss to St. John's on Sunday in Queens, New York.
  • Xavier finished the game with a .462 field-goal percentage (18-39) and went 5-for-15 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 3-for-4 from the foul line, and Xavier hit 50 percent (10-for-20) of its shot attempts in the second half.
  • Freshman Meri Kanerva scored a game-high 17 points, posting her 13th game of the season in double figures.
  • Kanerva is leading the Musketeers in scoring, averaging 10.4 ppg.
  • Fellow first year Lucía Martínez López scored a season-high eight points, adding four rebounds and a team-high four assists and two blocks.

  • This will be the 27th meeting between the two BIG EAST teams dating back to the 1995-96 season; GU is 17-9 all-time against Xavier.
  • The Hoyas are 7-5 in the series on the road.
  • The last meeting was a 64-41 victory at home earlier this season. Senior Ariel Jenkins led the way with an all-around performance, posting 22 points and 14 rebounds as well as three steals and one assist.
  • The last meeting on the road was a 66-46 Hoya victory in the 2023-24 season, during which the Blue & Gray shot 40.0% (24-60) from the field and allowed just 33.3% (17-51) shooting by the Musketeers.
