WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (1-0) downed the American Eagles (0-1) 12-5 through a second-half comeback to capture Head Coach
Caitlyn Phipps' first career win as a Hoya.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- American grabbed an early lead with three-consecutive goals. The Hoyas responded at the end of the first quarter with a goal by Molly Byrne.
- GU continued its scoring run into the second quarter. Maley Starr and Rileigh Meyer scored 30 seconds apart to tie the contest 3-3. AU closed out the second quarter with a goal from Kellie Linehan at the 2:15 mark.
- At the 14:20 mark of the third, Emma Gebhardt scored an unassisted goal to tie the game 4-4. AU responded a minute later with a goal from Linehan. The Hoyas went on an eight-goal scoring run to capture a 12-5 victory.
OF NOTE
- The Hoya offense was led by Gracie Driggs, Rileigh Meyer, Starr and Gebhardt with two goals apiece.
- Starr led GU with four points (2 G, 2 A).
- Mikaila Kitchen led the squad with three ground balls and four caused turnovers.
- Lucy Nace controlled the circle with eight draw controls.
- The Hoyas outshot the Eagles 32-22 and held AU to just one shot on goal during the second quarter.
