WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team defeated the Seton Hall Pirates 60-46 on Saturday afternoon behind a 22-point performance from

ON THE RECORD
"We didn't score the ball well, but I thought we defended at a really, really high level today. In any type of BIG EAST basketball game that you can hold teams under 50 points, you're doing something well, defensively."
- Head Coach
Ed Cooley
"We played this pink game for a reason. It's not just throwing some pink on and you have a nice uniform, this cancer thing is real. We want to make sure that people understand we at Georgetown have care. Any type of cancer is a deadly cancer and it could impact your life. Any type of cancer awareness that we can show, any type of love and compassion and empathy we can have for young men, women, older, younger, means a lot. It means a lot to me personally, it means a lot to my wife and it means a lot to our community. So I appreciate everybody that participated, volunteered and that might have lost somebody today. Thank you to our amazing Georgetown community for that." - Head Coach
Ed Cooley
"I want to do anything to help my team win. If I have to get a rebound, I'm gonna get a rebound. If I have to get a block, I gotta get a block for my team. So I just do anything to help my team win." -
Thomas Sorber
"Early on, due to some injuries, I got my chance to show what I can do and sort of step up. I feel like I took advantage of that. Ever since then, I've just been trying to keep stacking good days." -
Caleb Williams

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Seton Hall jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the half, setting the tone early as their disruptive play prevented the Hoyas from getting in a groove. Georgetown was able to cut it to three (10-7) on a Peavy trey but the Pirates extended the gap to six once again (15-9) with 12:32 remaining in the frame.
- The Hoyas continued to chip away at the lead, eventually taking its first lead of the game at 23-22 as a Malik Mack steal turned into a Caleb Williams layup. A pair of free throws gave the visitors the lead once again but a Caleb Williams 3-pointer sparked a 7-0 run over 42 seconds, capped by a Sorber dunk, to push the Blue & Gray ahead 30-24.
- Georgetown closed the frame on a pair of Peavy buckets to take a 34-26 lead into the locker room.
- The Pirates cut into the lead early, narrowing the deficit to three on a triple before back-to-back Peavy buckets gave the Blue & Gray some breathing room.
- With the lead trimmed to four, Curtis Williams Jr. knocked down his shot, drew the foul and converted the traditional three-point play as the Hoyas led by seven, 46-39 (9:05). Seton Hall would not go away, continuing to trade buckets down the stretch.
- SHU made it a one-possession game (5:22) but the Hoyas staged a 7-0 run, including five from Caleb Williams, to get the lead to double digits, 55-45.
- The Hoyas continued to hold the line on defense, sealing the 60-46 victory.
