Hoyas Fall 11-6 at No. 8 Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-6 decision at eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Homewood Field. The 10th-ranked Hoyas fall to 1-1 on the year while the Blue Jays improve to 3-0.
 
Hoya Highlights How it Happened
  • Johns Hopkins got on the board first, scoring on a long-distance shot against Georgetown's 10-man ride. The Hoyas responded with back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead at the 9:30 mark, but the Blue Jays closed out the frame with two goals – including one with nine seconds remaining – to lead 3-2 after 15 minutes.
  • In the second, Hopkins scored the first two goals of the frame before GU responded but eventually took a 6-3 lead into halftime.
  • Coming out of the break, JHU matched its second quarter production to outscore the Hoyas 3-1 in the stanza and lead 9-4 going into the final frame.
  • In the fourth, a scoreless start over the first seven minutes turned to consecutive Hopkins goals for an 11-4 advantage. Georgetown added a pair of goals in the final three minutes to make it an 11-6 final.
Johns Hopkins Notes
  • Matt Collison led the Blue Jays with three goals and two assists while Hunter Chauvette had three goals and an assist.
  • Logan Callahan won 9 of 15 faceoffs with five ground balls.
  • In goal, Luke Staudt (3-0) had six saves in the win.
Georgetown Notes
  • Horning's goal was the first of his career with the Hoyas.
  • Georgetown did not commit a penalty in the game.
